Revolt of 1857 and due to its rebellion of 1857
Organization, purpose and time of the revolution
Organization
Regarding the Revolution of 1857, it is said that there was
lack of organization in it. For this revolution, the purpose, time, propaganda,
preparation, unity, leadership from the villages was communicated to the
people. Lotus symbols were used for sending communication.
an objective
The objective of the 1857 revolution was definite and clear.
Removing the British from the country and giving independence to India was the
ultimate goal of the revolutionaries. To say that the participants in this
revolution were personal interests of landlords, landlords or small rulers,
trying to reduce the importance of the revolution. In fact, this rebellion was
based on unity and against the British rule.
time
The entire country was scheduled for the same time of the
Revolution and it was on 31 May 1857. J.C. Wilson had accepted this fact and
had said that I have been convinced of attested proof that the day of May 31,
1857 was chosen to rebel together. It is possible that in some areas the
formation of rebellion occurred after a certain time. But, on this basis, it
can not be argued that there was no fixed time for the beginning of the
Revolution of 1857.
The beginning of the revolution
The revolution of 1857 was inaugurated by freedom fighter
Mangal Pandey of Meerut Cantonment. On March 29, 1857, Mangal Pandey raised the
voice against the use of new cartridges. It is important that the new
government of India had provided the new cartridges for the use of the Indian
Army, the pig and cow's fat was used. Within the camp, the British officers who
went ahead to capture Mangal Pandey were killed. On April 8, 1857, Mangal
Pandey was sentenced to death. After hearing the news of the death sentence
awarded to him, the atmosphere of revolution in the whole country was
established.
The soldiers of Meerut broke the prison premises on 10 May
1857, liberated Indian soldiers and started killing the British. The excited
soldiers from Meerut's success have moved towards Delhi. Coming to Delhi,
revolutionary soldiers killed Colonel Ripley and got his right over Delhi. At
the same time, independence was announced in Aligarh, Etawah, Azamgarh,
Gorakhpur, Bulandshahr etc also.
Hindu-Muslim unity demonstrations
In the Revolution of 1857, Hindus and Muslims participated
together. The revolution gave full support to each other. The reason for
opposing the British during the independence movement was that the British did
not implement the policy of divide and rule to break Hindus and Muslims. Then,
the cow and pig fat used in the new cartridge which was given by the English
government for the use of Indian soldiers. From this the soldiers of two
religions opposed the English government.
Suppression of revolution
The nation's form of revolution and increasing anger towards
the British Government in the Indian Government has adopted a policy of
ruthless suppression. The then Viceroy Lord Kenning invited English forces from
outside. The manner in which General Neal-led army crashed the revolution in
Benares and Allahabad, it was completely inhuman. The innocent were also
sentenced to hang After the arrest of Bahadur Shah in Delhi, the massacre
began. Killing people with ruthlessness in Phulwar, Ambala etc. Many violators
of the prisoners were blown away by the gun rules and were fired at the mouth
of the cannon. Surrounded by soldiers in Punjab burnt alive alive
The British did not suppress the revolution only with the
help of their military power, but they got the Bahadur Shah arrested by
temptation, and murdered his sons, the Karachiists, the Sikhs and the Madrasian
soldiers in their favor. In fact, if the Sikh Regiment had not assisted the
British Government in suppressing the revolution, it would prove to be
difficult to resist the revolutionaries for the British Government. The British
also got help in suppressing the revolution that revolution was caught in
different areas at different times.
Due to failure of revolution
They did not succeed in the revolution that the
revolutionaries had initiated in 1857. There were many reasons for the failure
of this great revolution, some of which are as follows:
Do not wait for a certain time
The day of 31st of May 1857 was fixed for nationwide launch
of 1857 revolution. It will have a widespread impact on the same day the
revolution begins. But, the soldiers rebelled before a certain time before May
10, 1857. The plan of revolution was incomplete due to this action of the
soldiers. Due to non-compliance of fixed time, the revolution started in
different regions of the country on different days. This helped the British to
suppress the revolutionaries. At many places, the arms of the soldiers waiting
for May 31 were snatched. If revolution was to happen in all areas, then the
picture would have been different.
Patriotism of indigenous kings
Many Indian kings openly supported the British in
suppressing the Revolution of 1857. The kings of Patiala, Nabha, Jeed,
Afghanistan and Nepal also assisted the British with military assistance as
well. This seditious role of indigenous kings broke the morale of
revolutionaries and encouraged the English government for revolution.
